Text Box: WHAT WE ENVISIONED….
Text Box: AES completed a renovation of Charter Communication Office at the intersection of Bridge Street and US Avenue in the summer of 2002. This project was the first design-led design/build project for the firm. A project delivery method was able to quickly respond to a crisis — he collapse of the tower on buildings occupied by Charter.

WHAT WE FOUND….

AES Assists in a Crisis

Text Box: The success of the firms ability to respond to the initial problems associated with the collapse evolved into a program for updating the payment center, providing additional office space, and giving the facility a modern look; in line with the company’s technological image. By providing design-
led design/build services, the client was able to maintain operations at all times; although the phasing did require relocating to the front lobby and payment center twice! The result was a thorough facelift of the facilities exterior and interior spaces.

WHAT WE ENVISIONED….

WHAT WAS BUILT….

Text Box: In the first phase, a 2500 square foot warehouse space was upgraded to office space for seven employees including handicap accessible restrooms and a kitchen/eating area for the entire Charter staff. An enclosed corridor was constructed between this space and a previously isolated payment center. Several options which included complete demolition of this building were considered, but the most economic solution centered on a complete
renovation of this structure. Previously used as a service station, the structure allowed the high ceilings and openness of the revamped payment center. An illuminated, custom — built payment desk is the focal point of this building and can be viewed through the glazed storefront of
the building.
The last phase of the project involved the renovation of the existing offices and meeting areas of the facility. One of the most dramatic elements is the modern conference room on the second floor, which previously was dark mechanical space. The air conditioning of the entire facility was upgraded and windows were installed to provide daylight to previously dark, interior spaces. The site itself was also redesigned to include a variety of plantings, an effective screening wall, and additional parking.
