McClure Miller VNA Respite House

The VNA Respite House is inspired and driven by their mission: to offer a comforting, peaceful environment and to provide state of the art medical care for loved ones’ end of life. An extensive interview and planning study was critical to ensure that we capture the heart of a unique place to so many people. We worked closely with the Visiting Nurses Association, the Vermont Respite House staff, and other stakeholders to determine functional and qualitative space requirements for a new hospice house to replace an outdated and undersized existing facility. The 24,000sf building has 21 resident rooms, commercial kitchen, family kitchen with dining space, family living rooms and functional nurses stations, offices and back of house spaces.
