Mid-Station Lodge at Whiteface Mountain

This unique 17,950 square foot, 2-story, mid mountain recreation facility houses large open seating areas with a spectacular view of the neighboring mountains, an outdoor seating deck, a fully equipped eatery, and other skier support services. The project was designed to replace the original historic lodge that served as a favorite meeting spot for skiers and families. Due to its challenging location on the mountain and impact on ski area operations, AES, Gilbane, and ORDA carefully integrated the planning, design, and construction for this aggressive fast-track project. Every aspect of this new building was designed to withstand the harsh mountainside climate. Separate air and weather barriers provide superior air-leakage control. The building envelope insulation package is 65% above minimum code. No Fossil-Fuel fired equipment is used for building services or in the kitchen.
