Kalyani Mer, Ph.D.
Engineering Technician II
Aside from the skills and expertise Kalyani possesses, she’s a published author in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Environmental Sciences and Environmental Technology. Kalyani holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Panjab University in Chandigarh, India and recently earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Resources Engineering from SUNY ESF in Syracuse, NY. Her doctoral research focused on the development and application of biomass-derived activated carbon for water and wastewater treatment. Kalyani worked for several years conducting research, analysis, and review of specifications for water quality protection and wastewater treatment facilities. Most notably, she has worked with state organizations including the NYS Environmental Facilities Corporation and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, where she contributed her expertise. Outside of work, she finds joy in cooking, singing, playing badminton, and exploring new destinations.
